The 2nd round fixtures in group 4 were played on Wednesday 22 when Essex hosted Surrey and Hampshire hosted Met / CoL.
At High Roding CC Essex obliterated all records (not that any have been kept from previous years) by scoring 430-3 in 45 overs with opener Harry Brisland making 243*.
Other scores were Jackson 28, Keaney 52, Mayhew 34 and Gammon 34*.
This has to be the highest team and individual totals in the history of the Competition which began back in 1975.
In response 10 man Surrey were all out for 175 with Martin scoring 51 and Spink 40 so a record defeat by 255 runs.
Meanwhile at Langley Manor Met batted first and reached 91-0 in 18th over with Gray 49 and Jayasinghe 40 before a collapse to 162 all out with Godfrey returning figures of 8-2-26-5. In reply Hampshire were bundled out for 115 with only Headen and Ball reaching 20.
